The Official Section will screen European Films new to Spain , which have either
met with acclaim from critics or public or won awards from cinema academies in
their respective countries and which represent the state of cinema for the
different European nations.
In the Tribute to a European Film-maker Section, films of the selected European
film-maker, will be screened.
The Documentary Film Section will offer films from various European countries.
The Shot in Segovia Section will screen European films shot in Segovia city or
province.
The Films Never Seen Before Section will screen films which have never been
screened or have not had adequate promotion.
The Learning to watch Section will screen representative films from the history
of European film-making.
In the Invited Guest Country Section, a selection of the most representative
films from the history of Portuguese cinema will be screened.
In the One of Ours Section, there will be a selection of interesting and unique
Spanish productions of the past year. Some of our best recent films, which allow
us to acquaint ourselves with good Spanish filmmaking.
In the Saramago and Film Section, we also have the fact that Portugal is the
invited guest country in MUCES 13. The Nobel Prize-winning writer, Jose
Saramago, is an example of the connecting link between Portugal and Spain. In
collaboration with the Saramago Foundation, based in Lisbon and Lanzarote, MUCES
offers a selection of four films based on the life and work of the Portuguese
writer, as well as two films by filmmakers he admired.
In the Section: ‘In memory of Eduardo García Maroto’, under the guiding hand of
Professor Miguel Olid, MUCES 13 recalls one of the most important and unique
filmmakers in the history of Spanish cinema. Several of his films will be on
offer, plus the documentary made about him by Javier Caballero, and these will
be complemented with a round table, that brings together leading filmmakers who
knew and worked with Eduardo Garcia Maroto.
