SYNOPSIS:
XIII Century. In 1938, after a decade without releasing any film, Eisenstein
returned to make another masterpiece: an epic on Prince Alexander Nevsky, who victoriously defended northern Russia from attack by the Teutons: the battle was fought on the icy surface of Lake Peipus. He also had to fight against the invasion of Russia by the Mongol army led by Genghis Khan. The film was commissioned by Stalin to raise the morale of the Russian people against a possible attack by Nazi Germany.
